We are a mountain biking club based in Berkshire primarily from
the Crowthorne area. But we ride far and wide;
from Crowthorne to Cornwall, the North Downs to
the South Downs, Wales to the Isle of Wight. The club can offer
seven local rides a week, regular away rides including day and weekend
trips, a permit to ride in Swinley Forest, club
clothing, spares service, a newsletter, local shop discounts, and a whole
lot more. So have a browse around the website to learn a little of what BOB
gets up to.
Rides for Non-Members
If you do not know
an existing member to recommend you for club membership but ride regularly
off-road with a reasonable level of fitness, then we hold regular
Introductory Rides for prospective new members. The objective of this ride
is to introduce you to a few regular riders within the club. It also gives
you a chance to get an idea if you would like to become a member and ride
with like-minded mountain bikers. If you are interested in attending then
check the dates on the Calendar
and e-mail introrides@bobmbc.com
for more information.
A permit to ride in Swinley
Forest will be needed and, if you don’t have one already, a day permit can
be arranged in advance. Details can be found at: www.gorrick.com/swinley.
The Intro Rides are mainly on the single-track trails
in Swinley Forest. They are usually around 12-15
miles for 2½ hours depending on the ability of the group and numbers on the
day. Our normal Saturday ‘medium’ pace rides are often around 15-25 miles
or more. Alternatively, our Sunday ‘leisure’ rides tend to be 10-15 miles
for about 2 hours.
General club queries should be sent to cycling@bobmbc.com. (Sorry we can only
answer queries relating to the club and becoming a member, if you want to
know the "best tyres for Swinley" we
suggest you use one of the many cycling Forums, thanks!).
